I Finally Get To Dress A Boy

I'm a girly girl.  Like, a really girly girl.
I've worn numerous tutus.
I don't like the dirt.
I can't quote a single line from "Dumb & Dumber".
So when I found out that I was having a girl two years ago I was super excited.  I had visions of tulle and pixie dust and unicorns.  I decided to go all out with Mackenzie's nursery and channel Barbie through and through.

But the minute I started shopping for baby clothes I had an odd lapse in judgment that has continued over the course of the last 18 months.
I have always been inclined to dress Mackenzie like a boy.
I don't know what it is, but I can't bring myself to give in to the pink and purple sparkling sneakers, the "I'm a Princess" onesies, and the flowering tiaras.
I absolutely adore little boy clothes.  They're cool and modern and look like things that normal people would wear... Not something you'd dress a Cabbage Patch doll in.

So, despite the fact that I'm fearing the day that I have to talk to my teenage SON about sex, I'm extremely excited to finally have the opportunity to buy boy clothes and actually put them on a boy.

Mackenzie has been a real trooper for the last year and a half and hopefully she won't be scarred by all the times that people mistook her for my son.  Maybe now is the time to finally put her in one of those tutus.

  1. Congrats on having a little boy, Dom! Now Mackenzie will have a brother to look after her when she becomes too beautiful for her own good!
